Getting The Gear Ready

For me it's always a challenge deciding what I'm going to bring on my backpacking trip more so related to warmer cloths options.  My tendency is too bring too many layers.  Of course, the alternative  of being "cold" is not an exciting prospect for me and the concept seems to guide me in my decision making process.

To get a better idea of "expected" weather, I have been relying on the National Weather Service Weather and Data Viewer which I find very detailed and it provides me all the necessary data sets to make an educated guess on predicting the "usual" expected weather pattern I may experience over the trip.  It's certainly no scientific analysis but it beats guessing.
