Franklin Street Better Block Project

What a great time we had at the Franklin Street Better Block Project.   There were vendors, artisans, food trucks, live music along the street and a beer garden highlighting one hopeful (Crux Bone)  and one destined ( Hidden Springs Ale Works) new craft breweries opening soon North of I-275 on Franklin Street.  The map below depicts the area of focus where they are trying to transform and revitalize Franklin Street.  The project starts just North of I-275 and stops around 7th Avenue.  The project is in the infancy stages and this weekends event was designed to build awareness and promote the area as an extended neighborhood just North of downtown Tampa.

Shana in the wood working center.  Very cool place!

The old Rialto Theater.  It now serves as a collaborative venture with mixed arts and entertainment venue.  It's a very nice open space.  Just imagine the stories this place could tell if only it would reveal it's secrets!  The artists, performances, events, celebrations, concerts and gatherings from 1926 and forward.

Awesome  old brick work of the theater.

Anchoring the end of the "Block Emphasis" is the historic Tampa Free Library which is currently the Exceptional Children's  Education Center.  It is on the National Register of Historical Places.
